When did 1969 Cougar production start?

Line change over began officially on July 4, 1968. By the beginning of August 1968 assembly of 1969 Cougars began.

Royce. I often hear the term early model or early build. This term is often used to describe changes with parts or design changes that occurred early in production. But what is considered early? The first weeks of production or first months or is it based on how many units have been produced. Perhaps there no good answer.

In the Ilustrated Parts Catalog there is a cut in date if a part has changed. Using your Marti Report you can tell which part exactly should be on your particular car. Parts changed constantly and there are differences from one assembly plant to another. There’s no way to answer your question except that.

Thanks for the reply. I am picking up a 69 with a build date of 09D and wondered when they actually started building them.

The door tag only shows the scheduled build date. Most cars were built a day or two prior to that date but a few are months behind schedule. Only a Marti Report shows the actual build date.

09D is April 9, 1969 for a scheduled date. That is normally considered mid to late production.
