Nope… certainly not alone…
No you are definitely not alone.

Looking great! I assume that orange is gonna be the body color?
Wow! That Marti report makes mine look like a stripped down escort!
Axshun & calicat,
John’s Classic Cougars in Holland MI reproduces the seat upholstery. I think he typically does it in vinyl, but ask about getting them done in leather.
I figured I’d post a little update on by progress on my project since it’s been a while. Finally got the rotisserie changed over to frame table mode in order to change all of the structure that needs it. Took me a while to get the driver side inner rocker out because I was taking my time to keep from damaging anything around it. Finally got out what was left of it! There was more tar and aluminum flashing than there was metal in that inner rocker!
Hope everyone else is moving a little faster than I am!
Looks good. How is the condition of your deck lid??
If no one has told you yet that deck lid is off a 1970. I see there are small slots in the underside for the openings for a eliminator wing. But your doing a great job.
thanks

Correct, the trunk lid is from a 70’. My original had holes in places that would have been almost impossible to repair, so when I went to order a used replacement, WCCC didn’t have any decent 69s left so I went with the 70’. Holes already in the framework for a spoiler if I choose to go that way. Don said that is the only difference between the two. Since I’m not doing a factory restoration, I’m good with it.
Can any of you guys that posted pics of your cars, give me some direction as to what the correct connection for the inner rockers, floor, structure under the seat, and rear torque boxes are supposed to look like? Both sides of mine are filled with aluminum flashing and roof tar, so I can’t see how they were originally attached.
It’s been a while since I posted, so I thought I would give an update on my progress. I have the driver side inner rocker, front torque box & replacement rear frame rail installed, and the outer rocker extension and some other parts patched, so the driver side structure is pretty much done. Still have to complete the plug welding, but I’m happy with the results. The passenger side should go much faster once I get started, since I know what to expect now.
One thing I did learn is that there IS a difference in the rear frame rail between a coupe and convertible. The length is the same for both. The difference lies in the torque box on the side of the inner rocker. Pretty easy to covert from coupe to the convertible, but the other way around would be more work. Posting a few pics of the difference, both before and after the alteration.
Looking forward to completing the other side, so I can move to the next step!
Happy New Year everyone!
Thought it was time to get back on the car after taking time to enjoy the spring, summer & fall! I finally got started again in December on the RF frame rail, front T boxes, trunk transition, trunk floor parts, & got to install a new “shiny” Heidt’s front crossmember for the new suspension. [img]
I got the new firewall, rear aprons, lower radiator support crossover, and Mustang to Fear front aprons / frame stiffeners installed. Happy to be making some good progress. Getting closer to installing the new floor.
I’ve been making some more progress on the old girl. Got the floor in and welded, and the truck floors welded after setting in the new gas tank to make sure it all lined up before making that final commitment.
So the winter car work season has come to a close for me. Time to get the boat and house ready for spring & summer. I got the front and rear suspensions loosely bolted in to make sure all the pieces are in the correct places, and the frame connectors tach welded in. I’m hoping during my down time, Dynacorn will get their quarter panels done. Hope everyone has a great summer with their cars!
