1970 429CJ Eliminator

OK-- been searching and searching. I still cannot find a Cougar Eliminator with my hood scoop (nor can I find my pictures-- yet)
But, I did find a picture of a 1970 429CJ 4V Ram air Mustang.
And This is exactly what mine looked like, right down to the chrome “Cobra Jet” script.
I will not dispute what you guys say-- you know way mre than me!
But, I’ll swear on my mothers grave-- this is the exact hood scoop that was on my Eliminator.

Here is a picture of the 1970 Cougar Eliminator 428CJ 4V with Ram Air. One of only 220 ever built. This one sold for 132K at a Barrett Jackson auction.
Plainly, the hood scoop was fixed to the hood-- not the engine.
All that to say this-- I wonder: How rare was mine? I had no clue at the time.
And, DAMN do I wish I still had it!!!

Looks like a 428 with shaker

Boss 429 was totally different engine, had different ram air and had different shock towers

This is a Boss 429

There is always the possibility that your Cougar came in with out Ram Air and the dealer put on a Mustang shaker unit. That would not be an easy thing to prove though.
And Leon, where is that picture of the Boss 419?

This car has a lot of custom touches done to it, at least under the hood, too much bling, no shock tower braces, twist down hood fasteners and so on, not stock!

The '70 Mustang did not come with the 429CJ. The engine in the picture appears to be the 428CJ. The Eliminator came with a factory installed hood scoop. In 1970 Ram air was a separate option for the 428CJ. Perhaps your Eliminator came without ram air and the dealer decided that it would be cool to use the Mustang Shaker hood scoop on a Cougar. This would have required the factory hood scoop to be removed, the hood cut out like the Mustang and then trimmed out to look as close to factory level finish as possible. In any event, the car was not built this way at the factory. You should order the Marti report if possible and find out how the car was originally equipped. Any '70 Eliminator is a very desirable and rare car.

Wozerd, do you have the VIN for your Eliminator? You’ll need that to order a Marti Report. We can also cross reference the VIN with the Eliminator Registry and see if your car is listed. It might still be out there somewhere!

Thanks for the info about your picture too!

I sold it in 1971. Traded it for an AMC Gremlin.
(yes-- yes I did)
But thanks everyone for your input
As far as the dealer modifying it-- I was there when they had just rolled it off the truck
So-- I doubt the dealer did anything (including checking the fluids-- trans fluid was so low, it wouldn’t move after driving it home. calle Stu Evans Lincoln Mercury and they told me to tow it in and they woukd look at it. Of course the tow was on me. I checked the trans fluid-- none showing. Bought new-- and I guess overfilled it. Next day-- on way to work on E-way-- smoke was billowing out the back-- trans fluid bowing out fill tube)
