Funny, the exhaust is not drilled got GT manifolds.

J heads with 8 bolt were machined specifically as service replacement heads for the early 427 Low Riser.

Yup, and easy to drill & tap to fit a GT-E.

Royce, Kerry do you know when the J head first showed up this one is a 7J6.

There is one earlier date code because some of the introductory show units were built earlier. The most common are 7J and 7M date codes. Al Bundy should have the earlier date code on his GT-E, I think it is 7G?

My heads are dated 7H16 and 25. Block is 7H2. Mine looked to have been an over-the-counter replacement long block assembly for a full size car as it had 8 bolt exhaust (now 16 bolt) and big car oil pan.

Yes, they could have been drilled either 14 or 8 bolt originally. That’s the only other known date code for C8AE 6090-J heads.
