68 Cougar value question

The seller removed the listing so now you have to add pictures!

Congrats…I hope I steered you in the right direction. looks like a nice one and I hope you and your son make some nice memories together working on it!

I appreciate it, BossElim69. The car is in fine shape. Naturally, it needs some mechanical work. It has a Motorcraft carb on it that I don’t particularly like and the previous owner capped off the vacuum lines running from the carb. At speed it runs fine, but the idle is rough. I’ll probably replace the carb and intake manifold, along with plugs, plug wires, vacuum lines, and the distributor cap. Anything else I should look at?

I put some pictures in my gallery, if you guys can get to it and will continue to update the pictures as I move along. I have to get that drivers side quarter window up before I can give her a good cleaning, though!

Bama welcome to the madness, just looked at the pics in your gallery. She looks nice, congrats. Have you ordered a “Marti Report” for it yet? John

Sounds like it’s time to start a build thread where we can all follow your progress!

I am a little late but just returned from an awesome fishing trip. The car described sounds like one to avoid. I was searching for any car to do with my son and ran across a 1968 that ran but had no reverse. There was no visible rust until of course it was stripped down. It is all numbers matching and I bought it for around $3000 which I now think was too much. I have a spare car that sounds similar to the one you were looking at and in good conscience wouldn’t sell it to you for half that price! And it has the original 302. Look for a decent car that runs and drives. You will have fewer headaches.

No worries, nb! Thanks for the input. I avoided that one!
