Almost had this one a couple of months ago, but Holt auto sale beat me out. Ad is pretty close to the turth, but the driver side quarter panel has had some dent repair. Looks like all they have done is install the correct wheels and are flipping it.
do you remember what the winning bid was the last time out?
It was for sale locally asking $22,000 and I offered $18,000 but they took the offer from Holt sales which I don’t think was as good. They had money sitting on the table from Holt sales and at the time I couldn’t drop everything on my schedule to go look at it and make a deal.

The original ower just finished the freshen up restore work (4 yrs ago)and the interior has been replaced. Then he passed away before driving it again. His brother was selling it to settle the estate and his son was helping. Neither knew cars or could answer simple questions, so I wasn’t to confrontable without seeing it first. A Michigan car all it’s life, but I think it was stored a lot and not driven in the winter. I would inspect in person first, or at lease see some underside pictures.

Nice looking car. Almost $32k BIN that’s quite a markup for adding a new set of rims and tires. Will be interesting to see what it really goes for. Guess anyone?
I would guess around $22,000 now with the wheels. It really needs the engine and engine bay cleaned, painted and correct parts added back ( blue rattle can paint over spray every where). Then I think it could bring $25,000 plus, but still would have to see the under side which they wouldn’t provide me pictures of. Hope some one doesn’t buy it with out looking at it. They could be in for disappointment if there is rust issues.
I am going to guess less than 25k. Yes it’s rare by the numbers but the color and low options will be its hold back on better money. Just my two cents.

I think that you are right on the money, value wise, Brian. Provided that it is truely rust free underneath as claimed.
In 1969, the only way this car would have stickered lower was if it had a 3 speed stick.
Designated ‘Retail’ on the Marti Report, someone special ordered this car.
The original owner was a salesman and had a company provided car he used for his daily needs. He purchased the Cougar for basically pleasure driving an to have an extra car. I think he used it for trips around town and to different marines as he was big into sailing the great lakes of Michigan. Could be the reason why it has low options.
I enjoyed looking at this listing. Last June I bought a 1969 390 4 speed vert. I paid mid 20’s. It is rust free underneath, very clean. I had a member from NJ go check it out for me who owns 2 cougars, one being a 69 vert. He raved about it.
There are soem things different about this one. The antennae is on the trunk. The air cleaner I think needs to be chrome as well as the valve covers too. Where is the center console??
I feel that with what I have done to mine in the last year, brakes redone pretty much completely, plugs, wires, distributor cap, electronic ingition, new rebuilt 4 speed toploader, carb and smog tree vacuum lines correctly added, new hydraulic steering ram, new antifreeze, oil/filter, fuel/air filter, and many other little things, she is running in tip top shape and I feel is a lot closer to 30k if not a touch north of that.
Bottom line is you need to be sure you know what you are getting for your money. Good luck.
$22k I think would be a good price if there’s no major rust issues. Yea the correct color engine paint, few new parts, some cleanup and TLC I think it would be a winner. Can’t beat the mileage if it’s indeed original. Nice car.
