HOW MANY 69 COUGAR XR7 CONVERTIBLES CAME WITH LT IVORY PAINT, IVORY GREEN INTERIOR AND IVORY GREEN TOP. CAN’T FIND INFO ANYWHERE. THANKS,
I would order a Marti Report. http://www.martiauto.com/reports2.cfm
Are you sure about those colors? I know of a Light Ivy Yellow exterior paint color, color code 2. What is the door tag code for trim?
In 1969 vinyl top color choices were Black or White. 1970 had a bunch more choices.
Can you post the door data codes? We can tell a few things about color and so on from that. We can also tell you about when the car was built, the engine it came with the rear axle ratio and so on.
I have a 1969 s-code convertible that I recently had the 390ci rebuilt. Have less than 50 miles on rebuild. Living in Michigan with average temp of 25 degrees. Should I start and run for 20 minutes weekly or don’t run until spring?
WELCOME!
First thing, these old cars don’t have the catalysts that reduce carbon monoxide emissions, so running it indoors is a bad idea. Now if you can get plenty of air, then running it is going to be a good thing. The engine is going to be very tight so your battery and starter will be put to the test. Once you get it running, you just need to run it long enough to get the thermostat to open and the choke to fully release. It may take less then 20 minutes to do this.
The S code convertible is very rare and very desirable. So take good care of it. There were about 500 total S code convertibles built. Is your an XR7 or standard, and which transmission does it have. There were only 18 standard convertibles with 4 speeds built!
Have not run it much in last few weeks due to it being very cold and i had surgery. The Marti report shows that I have the standard with C-6 Merc-O-Matic transmission. It also shows 102 were made with this engine and transmission. I thank you for your advice and it will not see snow except out the garage window.
