A very good week

I finally had some extended time off to work on the Cougar and enjoy the new shop floor attached to the house we bought in March. It is amazing how much easier it is to do the work in a dedicated workspace as opposed to my parents’ driveway or the parking lot of our apartment, or a tiny residential garage with a short driveway.

I don’t mean to gloat by any means, but after 45 years in the workforce and having to do the things I wanted to do in a cramped space with bare bones tools, it is so nice to have both the space and time. I only wish my knees, hips and back were what they used to be…but I’ll groan, cuss and grunt my way back upright any day of the week to enjoy the fruits of time.

Space is a powerful tool. And next up on the list is proper lighting.

I removed all the flickering hanging fluorescent fixtures and ripped out half a dozen cheap LED spots that were intermittent at best. To start I put in some very basic LEDs in the roof rafters. Any suggestions on some quality lights to supplement? With the windows open during the day I have ample lighting, but I have noticed that I need to use my drop lights to do anything under the hood or in the passenger compartment after the sun goes down.

I got this set of 4. 8 foot LEDs in my shop. I need more though. I have a big shop. I do have other lights in it. But I think another 5 will do for the main work area.
