Anyone know what this black ooze is that is all over my door after removing the door panel? Does anyone else have this or is my car exhibiting behavior for a 1980’s Poltergeist movie? My guess is something that was used keep wires in place or from rattling? But it’s all over the place. I should mention that I am in Arizona and I’m sure the car was outside for a while. Cleans up with a lot of rags, elbow grease, mineral spirits etc.
The black stuff is there to hold the vapor barrier.

As stated above it is used to hold the moisture barrier in place. A heat gun will make it sticky again if you plan to reinstall those paper barriers.
