March 21st – Polished the top of the driver’s fender, finally. Next comes the swirl remover.
Mar 22nd – had day off work but didn’t get the car up on jack stands like I wanted. I did get the swirl remover applied to the hood and fender tops tonite though. Needs wax now, then on to the rest of the paint.
Mar 23rd – Checked timing on cougar and adjusted to 12degrees initial after doing some reading up (plus recommendations from folks here). I need to invest in a gadget that will check the dwell as well. I also went around and wrenched on as many header bolts as I could get hold of – several tightened up significantly. I was able to wrap a wire around the secondary actuator tightly and confirmed that it IS actuating.
Planning to take a trip to Spokane for spring break, so I pulled off front and rear valances to take to with us. I asked my Uncle about borrowing some basic body tools, and Dad to show me some body working tips so I can tap the dents out of the valances. *Ended up only taking the rear valance due to space limitations.
The rear valance was welded on at the ends so I had to cut it off! Looks like when it was replaced they didn’t have the proper bolts so they welded the corners. The weld boogers will have to get filed down…
I also removed the signal lights from the front valance so I can clean those up a bit.
Mar 29th – washed up the explorer and cobra, inside and out. No time for the cougar today :-/
Mar 30th – Yard work today, plus helped Molly with her science project for school. She is doing an experiment to determine how moisture affects different brands of popcorn. We popped and measured ALOT of popcorn today. The house smells like a movie theatre!
Mar 31st – Snuck out to the garage for an hour or so and vacuumed the interior of the cougar – carpet, seats, everything really good. I also emptied the trunk and swept out all the gunk in there, then vacuumed it out too. Need to do a “windex clean” of the interior & windows again though. Also need to figure out what to use on the dash to give it a nice semi-gloss without that “armor all” shine.
Apr 3rd – I put a coat of wax on the hood and tops of the fenders tonight. Also received the title for the Cougar from the Oregon DMV!
