The underside of that intake is not pretty. Cylinder walls look clean from what I can see,…lifters, I would not be to sure about. On the topic of EFI or carb…Here is what is on my Christmas wish list http://www.compperformancegroupstores.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=FS&Product_Code=30227-KIT&Category_Code=EFISystemEZIEFIKits Have found a seller pricing it at $1849.00 new. Rejetting carbs to 6500 ft. elev. is no fun.
Yep. I’ll say you scored pretty welL on that package for $600.
Well,
It’s been over a year. Still got the car. But have done very little to it since it has been out of town at my grandfathers shop. Making a trip up there to work on it this weekend. Hoping to bring her back because I now live in an apartment that has a 2 car garage. Feels good to have a place of my own to finally be able to work on my own projects. Now I don’t have to leave my crap at my parents or grandfathers shop. I just recently started working on the 5.0 (now that I have a garage) I have it taken apart and been cleaning and just tinkering with it. I just sent a message to my machine shop to get the cylinders honed and cam bearings replaced. I plan on using the stock internals. New cam. Still not sure to go carbed or injected. But leaning towards carb. Just because It will be cheaper.
Hopefully the cougar is up for the trip back. It’s only a 2 hour trip. But It hasn’t really been driven. My grandfather starts it every now and then for me. But every time I go up there she fires up first try.
With the car back home where it belongs I’m hoping to do a lot more to it and maybe start posting again. Well, that’s it for now.
Thanks guys.
Progress from the weekend. Pretty much finished roughing in a few areas and got this car in its first coat of real primer. Not the rattle can crap I’ve been getting by with. I can finally rest knowing the metal is now fully protected.
I did not get to bring her home this last weekend. I knew I had a bad starter (bolts loosened up on me a few times). But did not know my old starter pretty much ground down all the teeth on the fly wheel. So my legs are sore from pushing the car around in gravel. So I’ll be ordering a new flywheel. Luckily there are 2 lifts at the shop I do my work at so it’s not so bad. Lock washers will go on the starter this time. DOH!
I hate to hear about the starter/flywheel problems. I like the color change on the primer. Have you decided on the final color?
Steven
Score on room to work, greener pastures for the Coug!
See, had I known I would get bit by the Cat, I would have bought a house with a bigger garage!
It is definitely a lesson learned.
The car will be some sort of green. It came from the factory Lime frost. So I’d like to keep it some kind of green. More than likely Very dark with black pin stripes and hood scoop. I’d like the car to look black at night. Maybe even black during the day until the sun hits it.
That sounds like a good plan on the color. What’s the interior color going to be?
Glad to see you back working on the Cougar. I thought maybe this project got abounded.
The 5.0 is now stripped down and at the machine shop for honing and new cam bearings/ crank polishing. The stock forged pistons are still good and the shop says the cylinder walls are ok. So no point in wasting good parts just to get a couple cubes from boring it. Hoping to make another trip to work on the cougar soon. But things are still moving. I’m 24 now. Might have it done by 34! haha
I’ll finish your car for you if I can be 24 again. Or 34.
