early/late "69 instrument cluster

Mistress, thank you very much for the assistance with the wiring. We took an entire harness, with very few blemishes, out of a 69 non AC XR7 thinking it would be a nice simple swap. With you and Don’s help we have come to the conclusion that someone has taken a harness out of a 70 and put it into our 69 parts car. Our Instrument cluster ground seems to fall on pins 18 and 3 and our rear marker lights are brown and white with blue stripe which coincides with the 70 print rather than brown and black which coincides with the 69 print. Thanx again.

My daughter pointed out my last post wasn’t entirely correct. our rear marker lights have brown on both lights and white blue on right and green white on the left. It appears as they are taken to ground in the sequencer. Do they flash with the blinkers?

The 69 has the brown wires at the markers and do not flash with the turn signals. The blu/wht and grn/wht are 70 marker lights and do flash with the side marker. 70 also has a separate front marker that flashes with the turn, 71-73 has no separate marker in the front. Also the 70 under dash harness has a unique ignition switch plug used one year only. It was the year Ford moved ignition switches to the column from the dash.

That is very interesting. everything seems to point to it being a 70 harness except the ignition plug. It plugged right into our dash mounted switch and i didn’t notice any “hacking” had taken place on the under dash harness anywhere. Thanks again for all the help and advice.
