Makes me wonder what else is original
DD is important.
Donā€™t give sellers a chance to swap out parts ā€¦ Document Everything so you know exactly what to expect on arrival.

10 years ago , it wasnā€™t such a big deal.
Today it can mean thousands!
Repo trim rings, day-night mirror,fan clutch,fan, fan shroud,missing spare tire ,repo incorrect air cleaner, valve covers, floor mats,etc. hidden modifications (Undisclosed)
Incorrect distributor.
These are all easily removed and replaced by dishonest sellers!

Get and pay an honest CCOA member to inspect and document the car if you canā€™t personally inspect it yourself

Hi Mike, the story on this one is that the dash pieces were swapped out by the dealer when the original owner took possession. I donā€™t believe there is documentation to support that, but until 2010-ish it was still owned by the original family and had the woodgrain dash at that time.
As with any ā€œstoryā€, you can take it how you want. It does show a few other typical modifications ~ Door panel speakers, and a ram-air hole added in the hood, but obviously the subsequent owners have decided to keep the car largely in ā€œas foundā€ condition ~ other than a thorough detailing, of course :slight_smile:

All in all, still a great survivor and a really rare combination! I hope the seller hits it out of the park :slight_smile:

Hi Michael,

Your best bet is to post in the Classic Cougar Community Discussion section of the forum asking for help with an inspection. Include the location of the car, and the year (some folks are more specialized in certain years), and any other information you care to include. It may also be beneficial to include a link to the car listing, if there is one. Many folks here stay on top of the listings and may have already called or inspected the car and can offer insights.

If it is an Eliminator you are considering, you can PM me (I may have details from prior sales in my files), or contact Dave Wyrwas (Eliminator Registrar), as he may also have details that I donā€™t have.

If you donā€™t get the replies you are looking for from the forum here, there are also a few good car inspection companies out there that will give you a very thorough report. And you could fall back on folks in the Facebook Cougar community ~ there is a large crossover between here and FB though.
