Extreme Detailing

I don’t really recall asking for opinions, just sharing for those that like Cougars as much as I do. I love all of them, every year, color, hard top, vert, concours trailer queen, custom to original…and I enjoy seeing what others have done.

The car was originally a Wimbledon white XR-7 with black vinyl and black leather. 351-2v, FMX, 3.0 open, AC, tint, console. It was a nice fairly original car. Straight body, minimal rust.

A nice car, but not a candidate for a full restoration and not nice enough to be a driver for me. I’ve had a dream since high school to do a complete custom from the ground up and this was it.

As far as original looks, I simply removed the cougar/XR-7 logos, the wheel well trim and the rocker trim. All the other XR-7 bits are there. The interior is as close to original with the exception of three point belts and an 8,000 RPM tach, retrosound radio and added a 69 Tilt-a-way column.

Great day at Cars & Coffee in Amelia Island. Not suprised to be the only Cougar there. Here are a few pics from the event.

Thanks for sharing the pics! Love the subtle mods.

Wish all car shows could have grass like that to park on.
