The bracket is just what came with the fire extinguisher. A previous fire extinguisher I had - a red one - I secured the bracket with 2 screws through the floor sheet metal. Then I got this one and it’s just sitting there - I never actually screwed this one down, so as BossElim69 pointed out above, it could be an issue in an accident (hopefully NOT!). It stays put under normal driving conditions. It really doesn’t take much to put a couple of screws through the bracket and into the floor, so I guess I really should get on that! The one on the passenger side is also just sitting loose too, so I really need to add that to my winter to-do list.
Thanks for clarifying. Appreciate it.
Also, loved looking over your blog. Great site with awesome pics!
I finally got around to mounting the fire extinguisher. I purchased the H3R Performance HG100B, which is 1.4 Lb clean agent. It actually came with a real nice bracket and fits perfectly alongside the shift between the carpet and center console trim on the passenger side. I ended up using the existing trim screw which was surprisingly long and flushed everything well. The extinguisher is only 3.4 lbs so I do not think this will end up pulling the screw away. The bracket felt very sturdy and I am pleased with the install.
Black and Red Cougar with a black and red extinguisher…that works. Here is a pic…
