Just wanted to say HI an I just bought my first old Cougar. Its a 1970 Cougar XR7 Hardtop 351W with auto trans & 54K original miles on it for $2,500. Here is the info I have on the car from the original owner manual with the first owner info: Vin # OF93H503958 Vehicle Code: 65bG6G6x52 P&A Code: 71895 Date Placed In Service Sept. 24, 1969 City: Mesa State: AZ First owner: Dorothy E. Taxmam or Taxman 6229 No. Central Phoenix AZ 85012 Dealer name: Jack Pressaton?
Well done on your new purchase, Kal. Have you owned any classic cars before?
yea I currently have a 74 F250 Crew Cab ready for the road come spring, 66 Mustang convertible doing a full 2 year resto on & just sold a 77 Datsun 280Z. An had a 80 Camaro Berlinetta T-Top project I sold to buy the Mustang with. The Datsun I was going to use as a daily driver & I found the Cougar by luck right place right time guy handed a friend I know a flyer on the car I was at the guy’s house in less than 2 hours with cash in hand an I am going to use it as a daily driver.
Can you tell me anything on the vehicle code or anything like that on the car? I am going to order the Marti report on the car an see what they find out on it. I think I might be a 3rd or 4th owner on the car.
I can’t, but some of the other guys on this site will surely respond with that info soon…
Kal, on the vehicle codes in the owner’s manual, are the #'s & letters all bunched up together or are there any gaps? I recoginize some of the codes, but not all of them. Here are some codes that I recoginize: 65B-Body code for XR-7 HT with bucket seats,G-Paint code for Medium Avacado Metallic, 6G-Interior code for XR-7 bucket leather seats in Ivy Green. BTW, welcome to the forum. John
Welcome Kal!! New guy with best year Cougar(although some lesser informed will disagree ) and from W VA!!! Doesn’t get any better than that!!
Oh: We like pictures!!

Kal I just looked at your pictures. I’m not sure if it’s my iPhone that I’m viewing them on, but they are real small. When I zoom in they are real grainy. What size did you save the images? Your car looks good from what I can see. Enjoy it, Cougars are better than Mustangs .
Steven
I just uploaded them from a digital camera an did not change the size its standard size on the pics
I forwarded the information on your Cougar to Phil Parcells, the CCOA National Database Registrar. It is a new VIN to the database, meaning that yet another Cougar has been identified and recorded as still being in existence. Phil sent me back a note indicating that the 71895 P&A code is actually 11895, which conforms to Arizona. Your Marti report should reflect that when you receive it.
ok thanks is there anything else he could tell me bout the car?
Not really. He knows an incorrect code when he sees one, because he sees so many of them. That’s why he sent the note back. The best information will come from your Marti Report. And now that the car is in the national database, it’s history will start developing as updates are reported. If you are willing, Phil always likes to have current owner information as well as location. You can e-mail him directly with that at cougardb 'At" frontiernet.net.
ok thanks already sent him a email on it
