Hertz-G BF Goodrich FR70-14 - what was the side wall?

Yeah, individual letters is the best way to match the arced radius of the inside of the tire.

How are you going to match the font? If someone with an original tire could provide some measurements and more detailed pics I could re-create the letters as a vector file.

I can pull my spare out today and take pics with a ruler next to the lettering.

That would be awesome Jeff - you can email them to me and I will make those files available to any G owner who wants them.

I am a G-owner who wants them……

LOL - Of course! I would assume you need to supply a vector file to a custom tire lettering shop so that they can run out the individual letters for you.

No worries there. I can create my own raster files from the pictures.

Gotcha - For my part I will recreate the RADIAL text as it appears on the tire in vector as exacting as I can based on cheeser ‘s measurements to include in the registries files. I’ll report back on that when I’m done.

Phillip,

Sent you the zip file of pics from my spare. I took pics of each letter with a ruler.

Here are a couple of them.

Got them - thanks!

Ok, so I recreated the RADIAL lettering as it appears on the tires as closely as possible.

I have it as a vector file (not curved) if anybody wants to attempt to replicate the look. PM me with your email and I’ll send it to you.

Hope somebody does this - looking forward to seeing how they turn out.

That looks fantastic! And the resulting letters would be installed on the sidewall in a place without a lot of flexing. So they should look and great and stay put. Anxious to see somebody try it!

Thanks! - Obviously when printed or molded into a tire the letters aren’t super crisp. Then add to that 50+ years of curb rash and washing the tires.

I figured it best to start with crisp lettering then some patina can be added if desired.
