That is a nice Cougar in your avatar. Here is a live shot of the same Cougar from my 68 Monterey. If you don’t like Barry Manilow, hit the mute button.
That is Paul Damato’s Cougar which is the same colors as my SS. The video was taken back in "07. Before I hit a deer with the Monterey and back when the SS was still black and top Mangy Cat.
Hey all,
Here’s a pic of my 69 Sport Special in the row at the hotel Carlisle on 6/2/2012
Here is another along with a friend’s 66 Cyclone on the Taconic Parkway in New York.
I bought this 69 Cougar in North Miami, Florida back in 1998. I bought it with a friend, he kept the engine and I got the rest. I had a 1970 Cleveland 2v that I dropped in and drove the car for about 7 years. It was pretty rough. In fact, the Cougar was rough enough to win the Mangy Cat Class at the CCOA Nationals in Fairfax, Virginia in '05. I moved from Florida to Massachusetts and didn’t register the car in Mass because they have safety inspection and it certainly wouldn’t pass.
The restoration began with a slow start. Here is a pic of the rolling shell after paint.
Then with the help of some good friends we had the majority of the car done in about 1 1/2 years. Just in time for the Cougar Nationals in Bridgewater, New Jersey. I placed 2nd in the 69-70 standard hardtop class.
I vote for the Eliminator! For those who don’t know Mark, his Eliminator is considered to be the “first” Eliminator. It’s the lowest numbered Eliminator on record, which makes it historically significant and deserving of “next up” status. Of course, a nicely restored Marauder would be cool, too!
Hi Mark and welcome it’s nice to have a movie star present!! The SS is still looking good and as Dave W would say “wow” lol… After you get to know some of the Cougar people here you will have to share the bucket truck story . Are you attending the IMOA show?
Here is another funny story with the bucket truck. A couple years ago when we had a ton of snow the wife and I were using the bucket truck to rake the snow off our roof. The house we have is pretty tall so the bucket truck comes in handy. Well, let me start by saying the gas gauge doesn’t work. You can pretty much guess that while we were up there the truck ran out of gas. Well, I had my phone and called a friend to bring some gas. White we were waiting and not working it started to feel cold outside. Well, she was “impatient” (actually, she had to pee) and decided to climb out of the bucket and shinny her way down the boom. I stayed up there until my friend got the truck started.
