Hood Lock system

Has anybody seen or heard of the Chapman kar lok system for hoods (popular mechanics article page 115 below) ? The PO installed one and I don’t have the key. I just want to cut the cable that pushes the pin into the guide underneath the hood, don’t want it to accidently engage.

I have one on my car. It works perfectly (usually). Sometimes the pin doesn’t fully return after unlocking it and I have to get a screw driver and push the pin back in from under the front of the hood. The locking mechanism is in the key lock so if you cut the line you should be able to push the pin back in with a screw driver or something same way as I do when it gets stuck.

But the only reason mine doesn’t fully return sometimes is because the center peice of the grille is a little off alignment and thats what the lock is bolted to. When I straighten it out I won’t have any problems.

Thanks Coug67, mine hasnt engaged and without the key it makes me a little nervous so I just want to cut the cable thats under the hood with the pin on it so it never accidently engages. :smoke:
