I realize I am in a rut

I have been restoring my brother’s 67 for the past six months. It is different from the several GT-E’s that I have restored in the past. Those cars all had the 427 or 428 and an automatic transmission and power disc brakes on the front. Very different from this car which is a small block, four speed, and four wheel drum brakes without power assist. This car is harder and very different because it does not fit into the mold I was used to.

It may be to easy for your advanced skill set. It still needs the same amount of love.

Aw c’mon Royce, you may be dusty, but I don’t think you’re moldy. You’re a pretty sharp fellar.

I seriously thought he was being sarcastic!!!

I know how you feel. I picked up a “parts car” 70 standard that was too nice to part out. Even the paint job was good. So I spent a lot of valuable time getting it running, stopping, and cleaned up. It started to feel like work since I didn’t have passion for that car. I’m glad it’s gone so I can use the limited free time I have to work on something I’m more passionate about.

Very well stated; thanks.

Just power through and do what you can. Manual with 4 wheel drums is a different Cat for sure. I’m stuck on a motor build for my car. It happens. Old 390 keeps on a runnin’ so I don’t yet have the proper motivation.

This one needs a lot of love! It’s a weird car no doubt. 4 wheel manual brakes, manual steering, a standard Cougar with a 4 speed. Originally it was an A code 289, but the original motor had stuck valves so it got a 347 Roller Motor. Edelbrock heads, Cobra intake manifold and a 600 Holley on top. We are keeping the exhaust manifolds and dual exhaust from before. It has under dash AC that I plan to make functional.

I could get into manual steering, and the 4 speed with that engine would be great. But those manual drum brakes would sure be hard to go back to. And if the car doesn’t have tinted windows, the add-on AC might not be worth the added weight, noise, and lost horsepower. At least that’s been my experience with add-on JCPenney AC.

This has clear glass. The under dash AC was a Ford unit and 25 years ago it would freeze you out of the car in Dallas heat. Very worthwhile.

I’ve seen a newer version of window film that is basically clear , knocks out 98 percent of the uv rays ,and goes on the outside of the glass. No water in your dash or doors and helps protect from rock chips.

I have that on my daily. 2016 300s

That’s actually a pretty rare cat in its own right!
