That 1969 Cougar, identifies as a 1970 Cougar.

Terrific that Jay finally featured a Cougar and he is very complimentary of it and Mercury.

It looks great going down the road and sounds awesome - just wish the owner was a little more familiar with Cougar racing history and the XR7-G. Would have been a great opportunity to enlighten Jay some.

Still, great job getting on the show!

There was some confusion about what a Dan Gurney special was, and when the last Cougar was made.

Also, Jay didn’t get the door shut all the way.

Yeah, also the Pantera got a 351 Cleveland not a 351 Windsor, Magnum 500s were not offered from the factory on Cougars those years, hood pins were a separate option, etc., etc.,….

I know that it would be tough to keep my thoughts straight if I were on Jay’s Garage and the cameras were rolling - so I get it.

Cougar racing history is a bit of an issue with me tho - hate to see such a great opportunity to set the record straight slip by.

Hadn’t seen it until now. Great video-I loved it!

I didn’t know and thought it was interesting what he said about ford putting vinyl tops on cars that got paint blemishes on the roof.

Really enjoy older car guys talking about what they remember. Thanks

He mentioned that Cougars didn’t race in nascar. but wasn’t there a Grand American series where pony cars and then-compacts raced?

In 1967 they definitely raced in Trans Am.

It always makes a little un uncomfortable when “experts” give out incorrect information.

Yes, Bud Moore prepared Cougars won the NASCAR Grand American (later Grand Touring) championship in 1968. Cougars made appearances in both the Grand Touring and Grand National series throughout the years. One interesting tidbit is that the Wood Brothers campaigned a 1976 bodied Cougar during the 1980 season.

The Mercury Cougar seems to suffer from a constant flow of misinformation, misunderstanding and lack of adequate and accurate promotion.

Here is a great shot of “Tiny” Lund and his Cougar in the winner’s circle.

Thank you for the info and picture. I’d think everyone knows by now where to go for correct mercury cougar content——wccc!!!

Just kidding, it’s right here at ccc. This is headquarters for all correct cougar info, I’m pretty sure.

JL is an expert at entertaining the audience. Mr. E was gracious enough to let him drive it. Looks like they had fun.

I get though when they say things that aren’t correct. Kinda goes against all the work you have put into this. Thanks for sharing your passion.

Who’s gonna volunteer and book their GT-E with Jay, and set the record straight?

There is a group of us that have been working on that. Hopefully, that isn’t scuttled now that Jay has featured a Cougar.

I sold it to him to make room for my ‘70 base model. Far more practical…..
