I don’t much care for the rims, they’re a little too modern low-profile tire for me, but for the price I sure can’t complain!!
I was out shopping with the wife yesterday and happened across this cat for sale here in town which both of us found quite shocking. A Cougar would be shocking enough but the fact that it’s a '68, my favorite year, and a GTE no less, that was just mind-blowing. The second I saw it for sale I grabbed it excitedly and now it’s all mine. Oh did I mention it’s absolutely mint, same condition as the day it was made?
Seriously how lucky can a guy get?!
I know people would wanna see pics and I will take more later I’m sure but I just got one so far to show what unbelievably good shape this car is in
Awesome. I have 2 cougars to my hot wheels collection. Also those are the only cars in my hot wheels collection haha. I have the new 69 eliminator and an orange 68. When I find them I buy 2 and give one to my little brother hes 5 and loves muscle cars. When I show up to my dads house I pull in the drive way and rev the motor and he comes out screaming MUSCLE CAR!!! It’s awesome.
My boys have that one in addition to about a dozen other Cougars amongst their collection of Hot Wheels which number about 250 or so. I even have two: one with my old paint job and one with the newer.
Aw man, who wants a G car? I guess I’ll take it back.
How can one tell the difference? I thought any '68 with a hood scoop would be a GTE, although now that I think of it those engine codes were available as non-GTE anyway, so all my reasoning is garbage. Heh.
Well now it’s more confusing. The photo on the packaging shows just a fully blacked out grille, but the actual grille on the car is all silver, no black at all. I’m starting to wonder if this is even a real Cougar or just some kinda knock-off.
Also the car has hood pins, if that counts for anything. And round badges on the C pillar exterior and also the front grille. But they’re kinda just circles, not really badges. Yeah I totally got scammed. >:-(
G’s had hood pins and a different hood scoop than a W code (427) GTE. The G hood scoop “faux” openings have two vertical ribs making three sections. The GTE hood scoop is almost the same but without the ribs. The GTE and XR7G R codes (ram air 428’s) have the same scoop which is functional and a black hood stripe. GTE’s R and W codes have argent lower paint and blacked out grilles on the front and rear of the car (headlights and taillights) and a horizontal bar across the front grille. Hope this makes it clearer on the differences between the cars.
Steven
Ps. You didn’t get scammed, the round circles are the G badges on the c post. You bought a G car. The emblem on the headlight door should also be a circle.
Nice I have 2 - 69 Eliminators, 1- 68 428 GTE, and a 68 STD.
If I could figure out how to get the pictures off the phone and on the comp I would have em on here
