Looking for a person/shop cougar familiar in Massachusetts

Absolutely love this thread! Thank you for asking the question. I’m new to the forum and live in Massachusetts. I just recently bought my first Cougar (69 XR-7) and having already jumped into projects, and found myself looking for that “ trusted hometown mechanic” that could help. Haha - offering beer and pizza, any free weekend when the barn light is on! I’ll be back to see if you found any good recommendations, but I’ll throw one out. The Pit Stop in Bellingham. Mike there seems to not only be helpful but pretty familiar with Cougars and Mustangs.

thank you for the plug! the level of frustration i feel looking for some help here in mass is crazy mechanics here are rude anyway throw in a car they’ve never worked on and its a bad time. I will definitely give your guy a call before I take this on myself.

Can’t say I’ve noticed anyone in this thread crashing mechanics in Mass. I own a shop in Massachusetts, but aren’t close by and overwhelmed with customer work where there is no time or energy left to work on my own stuff. Also, I am not a body guy. I’m sure there is someone out there that can help you. Doesn’t have to be a Cougar specialist. Just someone willing to do the work with an open mind for advice from Cougar people far away. Are you in any local car clubs? Or, have any friends that are mechanical?

You guys came through! what a great community we have. Mike at Pit Stop is very Cougar savy and so friendly and knowledgeable…I honestly take back what I said previously about Massachusetts mechanics I was frustrated…dropped the car off yesterday at 8 am …told him what I had showed the parts list…he said “ok I got it”…I offered a my ‘69 shop manual he said “ I shouldn’t need it”. He texted me today on my way home cars done. 1 day. Then OFFERED to install my Paxton! I’ll keep you guys posted on that but for now 69 got her teeth back! So Massachusetts Cougar owners

hey can anyone suggest how to mount these new emblems? it appears the cat was dremeled off at WCCC for rechroming but now what? two way tape was suggested but that cant be right. right??? second the center grill still has the posts but I need the proper nuts. any advise wrapping this up would be appreciated.

JB Weld works great for reattaching the grille bezels. I generally tap the holes where the grille bezel attaches for #4 - 40 screws which works too.
