Nominations for December 2011 Ride of the Month now open!

Are you kidding? This is the new method to figure out how many active members…

I’ll go x8… as long as Bill shows at least one picture from the day it showed up at his house! Would only make the finished product that much more impressive.

Not gonna steal Bill’s thunder; but, while everybody hears/reads about “restoration” amd most of us understand “resto-mod”, who here has heard of a previous destoration?

That’s what happens when the prevoius owner %*&$'s things up so bad the car is worse after he gets done than before he started.

For example my GT-E. (and this is just the mechanical stuff…

Car runs and then dies after a few miles. Actual problem: fuel filter is filled with rust. Destoration solution: remove Holley carb and replace with Edelbrock, toss Holley. Problem continues.

Destoration diagnosis: car must be running hot and vapor locking. Destoration fix: remove stock fan, clutch and shroud and replace with flex fan. Car now runs hot. Still stalls.

Destoration Diagnosis: Fuel line is rusty Destoration diagnosis: run rubber fuel line from tank to carb. Use really tight zip ties every 12" to tie rubber line to remains of steel line. Result, rubber line is pinched resulting in fuel starvation, rust in tank still clogging fuel filter, car runs hot.

Destoration diagnosis: needs electric fuel pump. Remove stock X code pump and discard. Replace with Autozone cheap electric fuel pump. Install pump on right side fender well add 10’ of rubber fuel line. Run wire from fuse box up left fender, across front core support, back down right fender to pump. Wire so pump is running when ever key is on, but during start. Result, fuel pump stops working shortly after starting car due to low voltage caused by excessive resistance due to long wire. Fuel starvation now caused by multiple problems. Rust in tank still clogging fuel filter. Car runs hot.

Destoration solution wrap fuel line in insulation from Ace hardware. Result insulation ineffective but does absorb leaking gasoline to better support future engine fire.

Fuel leak renders car almost un-drivable. Car sits in garage and deteriorates for many years. Result: Destoration almost complete, Bill gets good deal on GT-E.

ROFL. Sounds like some of the mechanics we have around here.

I think Bill’s Black Cherry G cat is an excellent choice as the December and Christmas Cougar of 2011

That de-storation diagnosis example above is hilarious - maybe not so hilarious for the person who had to reverse the damage…

Oh, and Bill’s black cherry Cougar for December sounds like a great idea to me too.

All in favor of Bills black cherry for December, sans “official vote poll”, say aye…

AYE!

Nee! Ah I mean aye!

Oy!!

oui

Oil !

Its only a model…

I mean Aye!

Ah come on! No one is interested in giving Brian a full month of glory before declaring a new '68 Cougar of the month?

All of them are great choices, and I have a new love for black cherry, but gotta stick with Harry’s Eliminator…

X’s 9 or whatever number we are on for Bills Black Cherry G car. I think we should ring in the New Year with Don’s GTE. There’s just not enough months for all the nice cars everyone has here. LOL

Maybe we need to have 67-68 ROTM, 69-70 ROTM and 71-73 ROTM. This way we can see all of these beautiful Cougars. Now counting the votes for something like this might be a pain. :wall: Just food for thought.
Steven

That’s a great idea Steven!

Isn’t it time to vote?

My apologies for getting behind on this! My daughter is getting married next Saturday and since she lives out of state, my wife and I have been tasked with doing everything to prepare. I will get it set up today if at all possible!

Hmmmm, a daughter being pawned off = room for another Cougar! Wait…maybe that should be “a daughter getting married=selling Cougars cheap to pay for the shindig”…LOL…congrats, Bill!
