October 2011 Ride of the Month: The Local Hero

Mater rocks…I don’t guess I realized the GP wheels once belonged on the Hero…or have since forgotten…you’ve passed on a ton of info the last 3 years or so…I’m bound to forget some of it. LOL

Those wheels have dual bolt patterns… 4.5" and 4.75". They are not unilug rather they have 10 bolt holes behind the knock-off center cap.

I wish more wheels were made like that. I hate unilugs.

That first set of Cragars I ran were uni-lugs. I honestly never had a problem as long as the washers were clocked right. Like I said, that first go-round with this thing REALLY taught me a LOT! Never stopped learning either. I’d likely not buy uni-lugs now.

THe first time I had to change out a flat tire, in the dark, on a car with unilugs, convinced me that I was not a fan.

ahem… mine has them, Cragar SS, and my first time trying to put them on was just pityful

I DREAMED of having them on my first car, and couldn’t afford it. Now, i figure the price to pay for this kind of nostalgia is something I can afford (they also happen to have come with this car).

T3 will back me up here… I refer to your situation simply as “the price of coolness.”

Did you ever seriously consider the one piece side glass?

I don’t know how much you mean by “seriously.” But yes, that has been a thought. I even had a line on a nice set of 70 door glass but the guy sold it with his 69. Sunroof 69 did a photochop of my car with one piece door glass and I really liked the look.

I thought you were giving it some thought but also wasn’t that part of the April Fools day spoof from a few years back? The photoshop looks pretty good.

That photochop and a host of others were what initiated the April Fool’s Hoax. Matt (Sunroof 69) is a great artist and did a bunch of different chops all to the same picture. It wasn’t until a considerable time later (at least a year or longer) that he suggested we try pulling the stunt. He’s practically a professional jokester. It went over better than I ever imagined.

He’s also done the Cougchero concept, a ramp truck car hauler, a dual axle ramp truck and several versions with a chopped top and even one with the rocker panels slammed to the pavement.

But can you imagine something like that being allowed to happen today? NEVER!!

Jokes? Nope, not allowed, man. Use some common sense. Sheesh. SPK. YOU ARE DELUSIONAL, Mr. LOCAL HERO, AND IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT…well, just gitcher arse to The Curb!!! LMAO.

Oh, and JB…“the price of cool”…is VERY HIGH if Mark is to be your guide. Don’t ask how I know. (Though, remarkably, he’s been right…MOST of the time).

Congratulations. Well deserved, and a great choice for the first page!!!

Hear, hear!!! Or should that be Here, here?? Who cares! Hero, Hero!!!

Congrats Mark!!!

Don’t recall ever seeing the before pictures, now I’m even more impressed.
That sure is a purrty ride.

Thanks everyone!! It thrills me that the car has the following that it does. It helps to confirm in my mind that I did some things right.

Trust us, it’s only in YORE mind…:poke:

(Yah, I know, I spelled it wrong…I was typing in Lohotian)

Congrats again. I love the new banner!

I really like the Ride of the Month banner. It makes the page pop! Congrats Mark on having Hero being the frist ROTM.
