Welcome, Don!
Yes indeed! Welcome!
Yeah I was wondering when you were going to try to sneak in the back door to this party, Don!
How long will you be needing a system? Will it have to be sent out to a manufacturer, never to be seen again? I know a guy who has an original '67 GT system…it is pretty sweet, but he would want to clean it up and preserve it and mount up on the wall of his Cougar Den for safe keeping and display, eventually
Don,
Remember there are 2 versions of 72 Dual Exhaust!
That would be the Sporty and Quiet versions. Same dual exhaust system with different mufflers, right Mitch?
Mufflers and intermediate pipes. to accomidate the different lengths of mufflers.

Got feedback from the first customer (Jim Wicks) to install one of these systems…
I have been working with Dave as he completed the 1971 429 CJ
System. We installed the system at RANDY ROBERTS’ shop, MUSCLECAR
RESTORATION. I feel that this is a great product ! no filing, no bending
or fit issues ! YOU CAN RECOMMEND AND SELL THIS EXHAUST SYSTEM
WITH PRIDE !
We still need a 67 and 68 390 69 and 70 BOSS 302 system and probably a 1970 351c 4v system. 69 CJ will be ready very soon.
Don,
When are you going to have the 68 302 dual systems available for sale?
Need to add…will there be a 1969 vert 390 system too??
We are looking to do EVERY known system for a Cougar including singe exhaust but for now we are focusing on dual exhaust because even if your car came single, most guys want to upgrade. Will be listing the systems on our site as they become available on our site ASAP. We could probably do the 302 system now but it would be a phone in order. Don
Need one more system. Anyone have a 351c dual exhaust for 1970? Help!

Maybe you can get Darren to loan you his Boss 302 system. It is all original.
Thanks but we will not be returning the system, needs to be kept on site as a reference for the future.
Do you have a 1969 390 yet. I believe the one on my 390 4 speed sunroof car is the original.
Figured I would post a couple pics to show what kind of quality to expect from these new exhaust systems. This is a 289 / 302 dual exhaust we just received the other day. We don’t have them set up / order-able on the website yet, but they should be pretty soon.
The question is - what will it sound like? Ideally, we could install one of the new systems on a car and take a video to get the sound, and put that on the website. I’m guessing they will be somewhat quiet and mellow, if the mufflers are supposed to be stock replacements.
You know you have a problem when you find your self really grooving on the pics of an exhaust system. Those are some pretty pipes!
You aint kiddin’ Bill. I really like the turndowns…that’s been a difficult detail for many folks to get right if they are not familiar with the original system.
We’ll have to see it all installed on a car. Hey Don, maybe Andrew’s car would be a good place to hang those pipes?
I love seeing cars with the original systems in place…surprising how long they lasted in some cases. My 'vert had the original exhaust when I started the resto.

I would be interested, but I did have a full dual exhaust done just a few years ago and am happy with it. It was the result of backing into a steep driveway and scrunching up my (mostly) original single exhaust. I had to cut it off at the head “Y” pipe and drove with open exhaust for a while. That was fun! Startled the crap out of a little kid on a bike one time when I started it up. Saw him turn around and try to take a picture with his cell phone when I was driving away. Probably thought it was some badass race car or something, haha.
I digress, but I did take a couple of videos back then:
Oh, and here’s a fun trivia fact… in our WCCCTV videos (mostly the early ones) where the logo is accompanied by the sound of a Cougar starting up and revving, that’s my car! The ‘new’ exhaust is dual, with an H pipe, and long glasspacks.
Ok, for the sake of getting back on topic, here is what the 428 system looks like:
For the concours crowd, the devil is in the details though:
- will the new systems have “Ford” script on the mufflers?
- will you have the proper clamps avail? The tough one is the single clamp on the tailpipes in 2"
