Power Steering Pump Flow Rate

Moving to IFS set-up for my '68 302 Cougar. Anyone know flow rate on OEM style pump as new rack needs 2.5gpm? TIA

Your OEM pump will not supply enough pressure to your new set-up, you will have to go with a Saginaw pump , and they are adjustable if needed.
Also, welcome to the forum, there will be others to chime in.

Consider electric power steering from epas performance. Lose the fluid

I’ve thought a lot about that too, @EliminatorClone - but EPAS has a couple of downsides too. It’s another knee-knocker under the dash for starters. I’d have to rebuild a manual drag link, and change all that stuff out. Return-to-center is worse, unless you can get around 6 degrees of caster.

Honestly, the old hydraulic ram power steering is pretty good (if easy), until your hoses start to leak again. =) I may just have to stay with it.

And @Rod1026 , what do you mean exactly by IFS? Not giving you a hard time here, but trying to understand, because Cougars all had independent front suspension. Did you mean something like rack and pinion?

Correct. TCI set-up installed which uses late model Fox Body rack.
