Question About Windshield Installation on 1969 Mercury Cougar

Hi everyone,

I’m currently restoring my 1969 Mercury Cougar and have a question about the windshield (WCCC part number 11486):

Was the front windshield originally glued in place or installed using a gasket?

If a gasket was used, does anyone know which one is the correct fit?

It does not use a gasket, must be installed by a pro.Any good glass place can buy glass & install for you.

I’ve done several on 69 mustangs by myself. Unlike modern cars, they were installed with butyl tape. As I recall, if you are installing original glass then you should use 5/16", 3/8" if it is a new windshield as newer glass is thinner. You will have to reconfirm my numbers as it has been 18 years since I did my last Mustang…
