Rear Courtesy Pillar Lights in Sail Panels 1970 XR7

I bought new Pillar lights from WCCC. I saw a video on how easy it is to replace the light on a 67 or 68. But, I tried that on my 70 Cougar and it didn’t work. Does anyone know what the best way to replace them is?
