Requesting some help please re: '68 steering wheel / horn setup

Hi all, needing some assistance here from those of you with experience in the 1968 steering wheel, horn setup.

I did look thru my FSM & alot online but could not find the exact info i need let alone proper diagrams for the parts/assembly order.

On my ‘68 base, i am replacing an aftermarket wheel back to original OEM setup for non-tilt column. Basically going in blind as I have nothing to go on & no experience with this Ford setup. I have obtained the following parts, but still don’t know if anything else I’ll need is missing:

FYI, the factory turn signal switch underneath the aftermarket hub is intact & working properly.

So again, if someone can please help & let me know if any other parts are needed (additional spring?), as well as either your info and/or a diagram as to how the parts should all be put together for the non-tilt column.

If i missed anything on needed info, please let me know and thanks so much for your help. Mark~

I don’t know what the wheel comes with, but you may need a turn signal cancel cam as well.

Hi thanks, i haven’t opened it up again yet but i believe that is there because i had to put some taller pegs on it last year with this aftermarket wood wheel to get the signals to cancel on turns. if needed though i see ebay has all those parts. thanks again.

I’ve done the reproduction steering wheel on several cars in my opinion the wheel is made correctly then the chinese guy assembles it with hardware that is too long so it shorts out the horn and causes the breaker which is in the headlamp switch to blow. I solved the problem by getting shorter screws from the hardware store.

Thank you Royce for the info, I’ll keep that in mind while im working on this and be sure to check that out.

This is the repro ‘68 steering wheel I bought, I believe designed & made by APC?? Anyway I love how it looks and with stainless steel bands instead of the old mylar with it’s issues. With this full steering wheel restoration and Bill’s new dash panels installed, it will be so transforming for the worst parts of my interior. Thanks again.

I don’t know the builder, the ones I bought were from Best in Show and WCCC. Both of them appeared to be the same and all of them appeared to have too long hardware.
