Saying hi. First time log in.

As a frequent visitor of the other Cougar site I am here to check this one out and say hi to everyone.

I started my Cougar passion after having a boss when I was allot younger who drove a 69 XR7 Convertible. I later bought my first Cougar project, a 68 standard with the deluxe interior or decor package. Being green with these cars I jumped the gun at $500 only later to find the frame rails, floor, trunk, toque boxes, rear quarters, etc, rotten right through. I tried jacking up the car by the front drivers side frame rail only to have the bottle jack go right through the rail and the floor!

Well I got a little smarter and found a nice 67 with a strait body and frame rails just needing floor pans done. So I parted out the 68 and kept stuff I needed and made enough money to pay for the $800 67 five times over.

Well over $20,000 in mods and work and 6 years later I found a 69’ XR7 for a great deal and not long after hurt my back real bad and had to quit my work in the trades. With that happening I lost my storage space for the 69 and had to put the 69 for sale. Well the guy who came along to look at the 69 saw pictures of the 67 and offered my $20,000 cash. I of course hummed and hawed and eventual gave in and ended up keeping the 69. Well I almost finished the restoration and someone bought the 69 and shipped it to Nova Scotia, Canada.

Now a year and a half later I am back in the Cougar game with another 67 that has been stored in a barn for the last few years and all the parts to complete the car have been in an indoor dry storage locker and the parts are in “like new” condition. I had to have it!

Now the work begins and I will be seeing you all here very frequently.

Welcome, and keep us up to date on your project.

Jean

Welcome! Glad to hear you have another Cougar project.
Steven

Looks like a great start. I just hate rust! What are your plans for the new one?

Welcome aboard !

Howdy! Nice looking Cougar.

Thanks all! Well I was thinking of going the same way as my first 67 as per the below pics. I lucked out as I found some recent receipt totaling over $6000.

Rebuilt C4 with hi po parts for 400hp and 2800 stall torque converter $1700
New cowls, full floor pan, subframe connectors, steering and suspension, etc $3000.00This does not include the labor from the shop that did the work.

I also found some cool stuff like original owner CAA (AAA in the USA) roadside books and a mint fold out sign for the back window that has the “Need Gas” and “Emergency” on the other side. I also came across a mint service book with the coupons inside and original first 2 services signed off by the dealer dated from 1968. It has the original owners name and address as well as a 6 digit phone number. Turns out the car was purchased January of 67. Also has a really nice and really thick mechanical service book like the Hanes ones but 5 times thicker and everything is extensively detailed. Really cool to see!

Here’s my last 67.

Just went through some parts of the new project and I have an extra Grade A hood for sale. It is really nice with no signs of rust starting under the lip at all. I also have a grade B trunk lid with some slight rust starting under the lip but very repairable and even has the cougar script on it. There is also some Ivy Gold door panels, rear panels, and rear seat available as the last owner had found and bought a really nice set of black ones that I will use. May be some more stuff to come but I have to finish going through it all.

Let me know if interested in anything.

List your parts in the FOR Sale Section, You’ll get better resonse there.

Will do. Thanks!

Well it was a while since posting but here is a few updated pics of the build.

Currently installing new wiring harness and just finished installing the Mustang Steve 4 wheel Cobra Disc swap and new SS brake lines and painted the engine bay and underside. I also recently picked up a nice 92’ Mustang EFI 5.0, custom swap engine EFI wiring harness and the computer. Now looking for a T5 if anyone knows of a good one around around as well as a clutch pedal. I think I will be going the hydraulic route this time as I burnt through a couple of the high priced clutch cable from my long tube headers on the last car.

Looking very nice…!

Your project looks to be going great. What are your plans for the car when finished? Daily driver, cruise in car?
Steven

Haven’t quite decided that one yet but with the more modern day parts I am aiming more towards something that will be more reliable and fuel efficient like a daily driver.

Daily driver would be the way I would go if I was doing a restomod. Which ever way you go it looks like you will have a fun and enjoyable ride.
Steven

I REALY like the gauge set-up. Will be looking to do that on mine sometime down the road.

Oh and welcome back!

Welcome!
Love the color

OK I haven’t been really working on the car due to it being a little cold outside and when my back gets cold I really suffer due to an old back injury. Also have been reno’ing the new/old house and had to get the kitchen done before anything otherwise the wife won’t cook my dinners.

So here is the slight update.

Got the new brake booster, master cylinder, and rear prop valve in for the 4 wheel discs. Just received my new Modern Drivelines hydraulic clutch setup for the T5 as well as a new clutch pedal, roller bushings, and the T5 trans mount. We’ll see if I can get into it this week and will update how it went. Also got my fuel pump and fittings for the EFI. Thanks to CJ Pony Parts and their Black Friday sale!!!

Looks like Christmas in January with all of those parts. Finish the kitchen and keep the wife happy. Happy wife happy life. I bet it will ride and stop great. T5 swap is cool.
Steven

Hey, what wiring harness are you using, and how has it been adapting it?
