T-10 Transmission Questions about yoke and clutch

just picked up a t10 for my 70 cougar, now my question is, what yoke do i get for it? my FMX one doesnt fit…

and do they make cable conversions for these? or do gotta stick to the linkage?

thanks!, and if anyone has the parts i need…, PM me

If by T10 you mean a “Toploader”, I was unable to find a cable conversion for mine. I fabbed my own hydraulic setup, using a CNC master/external slave combination.

As far as the yoke, more knowledgeable people than I will have to answer that!

You do mean Borg Warner T10 right?

Doesn’t a C4 yoke work on manual transmissions?

No, T10, not a toploader.

dont know? all i know is that its a t10.

T10s were used in the '65-'66 Shelbys, and maybe even the later small block cars. I think AMC used them too in thier muscle cars. They came with many different ratios, so they key to having a good driving car is to figure out what ratios are in yours & match all that up with your engine’s power curve & rear gear.

That is a lot of brain damage however, and personally, I always thought the T10 was a POS. If I had a T10, I’d sell/trade it to someone who cares and get a nice toploader, or maybe a T5.

If you are determined to use it, maybe these guys can help with a yoke that will work:

im keeping it. i got a killer deal on it and its in great shape. its close ratio.
and yes i plan on using it, and thanks ill check out the website.

28 spline, the same yoke as a C4, toploader, 3sp, count the splines, some were 25 spline.
T-10’s are great transmissions but when they had a lot of miles would jump out of 2nd and/or 3rd.
Probably has the early bolt pattern, make sure your bell housing is drilled for both patterns.

GMs used T-10s as well, and some had unique outputs like the 23-spline unit that I bought once…

Every major domestic manufacturer made cars with the t10. Every one that comes to my immediate mind, any way.
Count the teeth, in and out. Match what you got and see what works. Art won’t steer you wrong. It’s a good tranny, and the only reason makers stepped up from them is because they had torque monster engines coming out that were overmatching their intended scope of use.

Count the teeth in and make sure you don’t get surprised with the clutch assembly too. Count the teeth on the way out and you’ll find a quick solution.
As Art said, mind the bolt pattern.

thanks! yup its 28 spline, looks like im in the search for a C4 yoke.

and bellhousing is the same bolt pattern as my 302. thanks agian! finally someone helped me on this site.

thanks! as for the clutch, i got that all figured out, he gave me a clutch with it with only 500miles on it, and i happen to find a flywheel with the 50oz imbalance and correct teeth count and my pressure plate bolts right up.

know i need to figure out all the clutch linkage stuff. which i got too, but need to see how everything goes.

Hope your box is from a Mustang (24"), some were for a Falcon/Cyclone that had the shifter several inches forward making it useless for Cougars and mustangs without a tailhousing change. Some early Galaxies used a longer version of the T-10.

THIS is a very nice setup for a manual conversion.

yea its from a mustang, already did some measurements. its the same legth as my FMX, and shifter is in a good location.

and WOW, didnt realize that hydraulic kits were that cheap! looks like im doing that instead. thanks Art!

Wow, that kit has really come down in price! Looked at that one time and again, and finally did the FYO route…(fab your own)…
