If by T10 you mean a “Toploader”, I was unable to find a cable conversion for mine. I fabbed my own hydraulic setup, using a CNC master/external slave combination.
As far as the yoke, more knowledgeable people than I will have to answer that!
T10s were used in the '65-'66 Shelbys, and maybe even the later small block cars. I think AMC used them too in thier muscle cars. They came with many different ratios, so they key to having a good driving car is to figure out what ratios are in yours & match all that up with your engine’s power curve & rear gear.
That is a lot of brain damage however, and personally, I always thought the T10 was a POS. If I had a T10, I’d sell/trade it to someone who cares and get a nice toploader, or maybe a T5.
If you are determined to use it, maybe these guys can help with a yoke that will work:
28 spline, the same yoke as a C4, toploader, 3sp, count the splines, some were 25 spline.
T-10’s are great transmissions but when they had a lot of miles would jump out of 2nd and/or 3rd.
Probably has the early bolt pattern, make sure your bell housing is drilled for both patterns.
Every major domestic manufacturer made cars with the t10. Every one that comes to my immediate mind, any way.
Count the teeth, in and out. Match what you got and see what works. Art won’t steer you wrong. It’s a good tranny, and the only reason makers stepped up from them is because they had torque monster engines coming out that were overmatching their intended scope of use.
Count the teeth in and make sure you don’t get surprised with the clutch assembly too. Count the teeth on the way out and you’ll find a quick solution.
As Art said, mind the bolt pattern.
thanks! as for the clutch, i got that all figured out, he gave me a clutch with it with only 500miles on it, and i happen to find a flywheel with the 50oz imbalance and correct teeth count and my pressure plate bolts right up.
know i need to figure out all the clutch linkage stuff. which i got too, but need to see how everything goes.
Hope your box is from a Mustang (24"), some were for a Falcon/Cyclone that had the shifter several inches forward making it useless for Cougars and mustangs without a tailhousing change. Some early Galaxies used a longer version of the T-10.
THIS is a very nice setup for a manual conversion.
