Tailight covers

I have a base 67 cougar and I have taillight covers for it but its not obvious to me how they go on?

The cardboard ones in the trunk?

They are generally too big. They typically have to be trimmed 7/16 to zero top to bottom. The top has to tuck in between the tail lamp wiring supports. The whole thing has to curve around the tail lamps. The bottom is creased, each side bends forward. The bottom sits forward of the gas tank attachment bolts.

There were originally two screws attaching each piece of cardboard. I cut off the screwdriver heads and sharpen two #8 wood screws 1" long to pick up the holes in the cardboard. In general the prepunched holes are way off.
