Hard to resist a good time wasting topic sometimes. Since the failures of eBay were brought up I thought I’d share something I just became aware of recently.
If you list on eBay motors you are now required to offer free returns for parts that do not fit. If you list your part and specify that it fits a 1968 Cougar and some idiot buys it for his DeSoto, you have to pay for him to return it. Also if someone buys a part from you and they simply change their mind, you have to pay for half of that return. I’ve always had generous return policy, if you want to send it back feel free. But unless it was my fault, you pay for the return. Looks like my days of selling parts on eBay are over.
HAIL to the Swap Meet (not the precipitation kind) and genuine natural real live in person life!!! .
I listed a few items as “new/other” and feebay was requiring me give the buyer a 30 day free test drive and returns for whatever reason, were at my expense..
The ebay free return policy only applies to new parts. It does not apply to our used collector parts. I received the same notice from ebay since I do list vintage used Cougar parts. After carefully reading the notice I saw that it is only for new parts. I just relisted some parts a week ago and the free return policy never came up as I did the listings.

Thanks for that clarification. Good to know.
That may be the case Randy. But I use Sixbit for all my listings new, used, NOS. When I tried to submit them the eBay system rejected them all for lack of free returns. I guess I’ll have to try listing directly to get around that policy.
This is a great forum. There is lots of good information, good helpful people and some great images. Lately it has been diluted somewhat, in my opinion, by a lot of non-Cougar-related posts. I end up skipping more posts that I actually read.
Agreed!!
Yes, this use to be a great forum. It is going down hill quickly in my opinion also. Find myself scrolling down multiple pages to find anything worth reading now.
FWIW, I also preferred the old CCC format compared to this one.
Al,
I know nothing about Sixbit so I cannot help you there. My one suggestion would be that you put USED in as the condition on all your parts listings. I put GOOD USED in as the condition on all my listings so that may be why I do not get rejected for not offering free returns.

I don’t have an answer….just want to say thanks for the support-when needed. It would be a lot harder without you all.
Just reading your posts helps me realize a lot of things I need to do. Thanks again!
