Turn signals issue

Hi Guys
wierd thing …my turn signals work perfectly (upgraded box and flasher) until I turn on my head lights or parking light …passenger side works as normal …
.but my driver’s side doesn’t; sequence
I do have a burnt-out dash indicator (driver’s side )…could that be the culprit?
Also looks like there is a black grounding wire in the trunk, Should there be 2 or none? Thanks for any advice

Your symptoms indicate a faulty ground. The tail lamps are grounded through the bolts / nuts that hold the lamps to the body. There is a ground in the center but that ground is for the sequencer assembly, not the lamps themselves. Take a look at the front turn signal. It is a separate circuit with it’s own ground - is it working?

The indicator lamp is another separate circuit. My guess is a bad bulb or socket is causing that to not work.

Hi Royce all exterior bulbs work …?? I’ll double check that they are grounded properly any other ideas lol TIA

70’s incorporate a weird design (at least for Mustangs, but probably for Cougars too). The side marker lamps are turn signal and running lights as the two wires with no grounds. This creates lots of problems in trouble-shooting. Try removing all side marker lamps and see if things work correctly. If so, that’s where the problem is.
