I always find it interesting to see how many comparable cars were built, and how many of them are “currently known to exist”. I’m not sure how the XR7-G’s figure, as far as survival rate / “cars currently accounted for”, but for Eliminators it seems to be around 25% or so. However, we are still adding / “finding” more cars every year.
I think it would be cool to see some sort of “State of the Registry” update for the various Registries.
619 was the official number maybe 15 years ago. A wise man would not state a definite number today, because we have found several errors that have resulted in additional XR7-G’s being documented to have been built. Let’s just say that at least 622 and likely a couple more were built. It’s because humans were entering the data, the data itself cannot lie if manipulated properly.
Survival rate is always going to be unknown because we keep finding more every year. As soon as I state a figure another one or more will be found which will make my previous statements suspect. It’s right around 1/3 survival rate that we know of…but there are a couple examples that I struggle with defining them as “Cars that exist”.
I hear ya, Royce! I use “currently accounted for” as my catch phrase for how many Eliminators we have documented in some form or another. Gives leeway for new finds and doesn’t specify a “car that exists”. Of course some of those “accounted for” are known to have been scrapped, or are VINs from drivetrain components, or old documents, and even newspaper ads.
