This has got to be the most interesting group of nominees yet.
Nominees, I NEED your help! Post some pictures or if you are not sure how to do that, let me know and I will walk you through the process, or post them for you. Keep those cards and letters coming: WE WANT TO HEAR YOUR STORY!
So here we go:
Mike Cole’s 1970 Fast Cat Still a work in progress, but seriously-evil-nasty fast!
Harry’s 1969 Eliminator. Like falling in love with your high school sweetheart all over again! Harry was the original owner of this incredible Eliminator. Good taste back then and great taste now Harry! IF the theme this month is project cars, consider this: Harry’s project started out in 1969!
Adam Hunts 1967 Quantum Cougar. Is it a particle or a wave? Nope, it is a 1967 Cougar. Right after you figure out what Quarks do, you decide to rebuild a classic Cougar to stay challenged.
MO2872 /T3’s Sooner Cat aka the HEAP? That which doesn’t kill you: (spring compressor) makes you stronger, And the end result is this very strong effort. Bonus points for building the garage AND the car at the same time!
Before
After
Yorgle’s 1968 CopyCatvVert. Not many of us use our Cougars as daily Drivers. Yorgle does. In the winter. In Wisconsin. So what’s a guy do with a Cougar like that? Cut the top off! And what a fantastic job he has done.
Since 3 broke the ice, I’ll see if I can wrangle up a vote or two.
Quantum Cougar was not a name I gave to my project, but it is fitting. Just like many projects, the Quantum Cougar is neither alive nor dead, but some combination of both states at the same time. You can find a brief introduction and see what I’ve done since November in my project thread. Between 1997 and November of last year, I focused on making it fit for the road. I started by getting the manual drum brakes in order. I moved on to the interior and I installed new carpet, a new head liner and new seat upholstery with the help of my Dad and my friends.
Once that was completed, I decided to give it a little more juice and rebuilt the engine and transmission. After getting into a bit of trouble (and what 19 year old with a loud and fast muscle car doesn’t), I put my project on an 11 year hiatus. When I returned to California and my Cougar, my goal was again to get it fit for the road. I rebuilt the entire power steering system and replaced almost all of the front suspension. Once my goal of getting it on the road was successful, I suffered from several cases of “while I’m at it”. My Cougar is now far from fit for the road. Here’s a picture I took this morning.
The space I have to work in is fairly small, but it’s just a rental and very temporary. My wife and I are saving up for a house of our own. One with at least a two car garage.
The purpose of my Cougar is to have fun. I’m having a ton of fun building it and once it is built, I’ll have a ton of fun driving it. You will be able to find me at Wednesday night drags at Infineon Raceway or maybe an open track day at one of three major road courses in the area or at a local cruise-in or small show. You may even find me at El Mirage or Bonneville. I’m not interested in making a trailer queen or having someone who has watched too much “What’s My Car Worth?” pick a part my car. I’m in it for the personal satisfaction; not the trophies.
Again, thank you to those who nominated me and thank you for the support I have received from the Cougar Community. I don’t envision winning (or even coming close), but I hope to return here in the future.
Oh Adam, Adam…Adam. “Tribbles” are what build character in life. They… make you stronger. More resilient to lifes li’l problems. Some refer to them as “trials and tribbleations”.
No apology necessary. I already covered your quite worthy picture in the other post! Awesome work on your “heap”! These are really cool ROTM nominations.
Steven
For those who haven’t read my story yet, here it is … http://harrya.webs.com complete with photos of the 2 year restoration.
FYI, the E stripes are due to be applied on May 11.
Thanks.
Damn, this is tough! I love the cachunkachunk sound of Cole’s '70 Fast Cat, but Mo’s '68 is beautiful! being a '68 owner myself, I have to go with…damn…I don’t know! OK…MO it is
