WCCC Eliminator Giveaway Contest

Didn’t you watch Sal’s video???

“They don’ know!” :bloated:

Good one, Sal!

Thanks Mike, I’ll let the wife know, She’ll be thrilled. SalD

The other day I was telling my wife about your new video. When I told her about your wife in her pink housecoat we both got a good laugh since my wife is always wearing her blue housecoat around! LOL!
Kindred spirits, I guess

Ha! I think we live in the same house with the same wife just in different time zones. Naaa, not my wife. Sal

There is a strong stereotype suggesting that young people no longer know the value of the things they have. This is not always the case. Sometimes you meet someone who was raised to be thankful for what they have and if they want something to go out and earn it. Your contest asks of someone to step up and earn the chance to bring your car back to life. I am the right person for the job.
My name is Katie Cunningham. I am 15 years old and was raised with a passion for cars from an early age. My family has been involved in the cougar world since I was little; being members of the Arizona cougar club is originally how I found out about your car. In 1982 when my dad got out of the army he saw a cougar in someone’s garage and asked about it finding it for sale he bought it and it hasn’t left our family since. My brother and I grew up restoring the 69 after it got into a small accident. My brother wanted to take it to prom, diligently working on it he found himself unable to do so due to having more work then we thought it needed. Since most of the damage was in the front we went looking on eBay for parts and ended up finding a rusted out 69 convertible that was not savable. After bringing the car back from Chicago we stripped it down using the front end for our 69. Since we stripped the car we now have a 351 Windsor and an fmx transmission. Before my dad had already parted other cougars. We personally know Scott Taylor; he is always very supportive and willing to help, so being in the cougar community we have access to a variety of parts.
The convertible was to be mine till we realized we couldn’t save it. This car will be for me. It will finally be my turn to have a car of my own that I work on and restore instead of just being “the helper”. If I work hard and devote my time there is a chance to take it to prom, considering i’m only a sophomore. I also understand the original color of the car is green and that is my favorite color. I have many resources such as books manuals and other people to ensure the job is done right. Arizona is one of the best places for cars because of the weather, no snow means no rust. Cougars have always caught my attention because of the simple fact that they are original and don’t look like everything else on the road unlike most of today’s cars. Hardtops are more appealing to me than convertibles and my all time favorites have always been the eliminators. Whenever we go to a car show that’s the first place we go. Knowing that in 1970 the Cleveland came out makes it an interesting possibility to put in the car.
Not only do I want to do right, but also it will be a huge learning experience. I take automotive classes at school and am looking into the work field for college. The times I spent with my dad and brother doing things for the car are moments I will cherish forever, with the help of this car it will make it so these moments last longer than they would. The progress with our 69 is coming to an end. Some of my favorite memories were getting up early to help load the car up onto the trailer to take it to shows. Helping my brother show off the car was always amazing. Ill always remember the smile on my face and how proud I was to say ya, that’s my brothers car. Every time I look at the picture of your car I catch myself smiling, because I know my turn is coming for everyone to help me load MY car up and stand by my side saying ya, that’s her car.

Good job Katie, good luck in the contest.

Only a couple day’s left!!! Who will be the winner, this is exciting! :jump3:

I just discovered this video entry hiding in the MC.net Blog section! Not a moment too soon…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pCq1FM6Xvk

Thanks for the entry, Phelps’s!

In other news, tomorrow is the deadline! Wonder if we’ll see any more entries at the last minute. Anyway, after tomorrow, bear with us as we sift through and try to choose the top 10 entries, after which the winner will be decided by you all in a poll on MC.net (even though the big migration to CCC occurred during the contest, we need to stick to our original rules). We’ll try to start the voting on Feb. 1st or 2nd, depending how long it takes to figure out the top 10. We don’t want to drag out the voting process, so we’ll probably give it about a week, and then the winner will be decided! I’m excited to see what happens… stay tuned!

I would like to submit myself, at the last minute, with this: “I better win, OR ELSE!!! I know where you work!!!” :poke:

All kidding aside, some worthy entrants, will be interesting to see your top ten!

Speaking of last minute entries, we just got one by email:

I fell in love with a cougar the very first time I laid eyes on it. I have been a cougar
owner for over 40 years and will continue to be one. The first cougar was a 1967 blue
and white with a 390 engine and a automatic and it could really move. I want also
mention that I won my wife heart with that car. She drove it many times and once was
stopped for speeding the only reason she did not get a ticket was that she had a nun riding
with her. I had this car until 1970 where we traded it for a 1970 gold and black with a
351cv4 with a FMX auto. My wife drove this car until it go to small for the family as
you know not much room for kids. I never sold this car because I could not get the right
price for it. My oldest son then drove the car for a while after receiving his driver license
until a push rod problem.
I am in the process of restoring it now which is about ¾ the way with the project and
know the baby in side and out. To win the cougar would be a dream and I would very
much excided to have the chance or restoring it to the former glory which it was of the
end of assembly line. The pictures of the car are great from the look it has about the
same problems that my other restore project. These problem I am very aware of what
it will take to correct and is up to the task. Let me also tell you I will do the restore and
not sell the car for parts. To me this a labor of love and not treated with a passing fancy.
Thanks very much for the opportunity to complete for this car.

Andy, you still have my vote. I want to see that Eliminator at Speedweek when you finish it.

I am so happy that I don’t have to be the one to pick the winner. There are so many heartfelt appeals… Good luck everybody!

You do get to vote though Bill. So in a sense you have to pick the winner.

The wife just got tired of hearing me kick around the house muttering under my breath about a “Poop Box” and spending a lot of time and money taking care the things I love, so this morning she left saying that she would bring me home my very own "Poop Box.

Still miscommunicating after all these years! She hasn’t named him yet so meet KILLA.

Not sure how I got left out of the finals, but thanks for the support! :beerchug:

(I kid! I don’t deserve this car, but would race the crap out of it if it landed in my hands… )

Congrats Sal, “Killa” is adorable. The wife fixed 'ya good, huh? :buck:

Nice dogfood Eliminator she got ya! Competition Gold too, so he matches your other Cougars

When are you gonna put the side stripes on him?

Sal, that one will love you back… Congratulations.
