Good work Don!!!
An hour or two in the sun should make the dent in that pad go away.

As soon as I saw the first post I thought “well Don is certainly going to make this right”. Thanks Don. I’m working on a new list of parts I’ll be ordering in the near future.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOO!
Wow! Thanks for the votes of confidence guys. We try to live by the “Golden Rule”. My 66 Cyclone needs a good used dash pad and I have to ask myself, If I saw a similar condition Comet / Cyclone pad at a swap meet, would I be enthused about paying $200 for it? No… And even if I did get talked into it being a good value, how would it make me feel when I saw a much better example on ebay weeks later for $200? I will never get rich at this business but I do make it a priority to get a good nights sleep.
Plus you get continued repeat happy customers.
Don, thank you a million, again. The dash showed up today (much earlier than expected) and man is it a beauty! iPhone pics dont do it justice, besides the little crease on top the pad is almost mint! I hate to even paint it, looks so good i will likely clean it up with some warm water and soap and bolt it in, dont want to risk ruining it. I will take pics with my canon later.
I believe you have one of the nicest dash pads to be had…WOW! Gotta respect the unusual turn of events.
On a side subject…diggin’ on your retro Zenith Wedge audio system…pop in an 8-track or spin your vinyl…that’s great!
I believe your right, strange how things turn from one end of the spectrum to the other. Need to some votes. To paint or not to paint. I vote leave it, wipe it down, just too nice to paint. However the top will have a more uniform color if painted…
Good eye on the venith! This was my dads I remember as a kid. Still sounds amazing, the 8 track’s band was liquified and im yet to find a replacement. We use it for vinyl, I still pick up records every now and then when we go to the antique stores. The box standing next to it houses my classic rock collections.
Glad you like it! BTW, you might see a 1973 model show up… I forgot to change my ebay ship to address after I had the pad sent to you direct. OOPS!
I think you should dye it the correct color. If you clean it well and use a quality dye, you can’t screw it up and you’ll never be able to tell it was dyed.
AH! That answers the mysterious parts showing up! I sent you a PM, I got that and a box of hubcaps. No worries, I’ll have them shipped to WCCC.
True 'dat. SEM vinyl paint goes on “like budda”!
Since a 70 pad is so easy to take on and off, clean it up and mount it “as is” and in time, with a few ads on sites like this, you will find someone to swap a like condition green pad as black might be more sought after than green. In the end you will still end up painting at least the upper side as colored pads always fade. I would definitely work towards getting green in there as anything else just shouts out “replacement” and you have an unusually sanitary, unmolested original interior. I say make it look like nobody was ever there.
I spent Saturday cleaning and installing. Probably spent a good 5 hours cleaning paint and removal/installation of the dahses. I decided to clean up the old one real good with soad/water use SEM vinyl prep on it and shoot the SEM landau black first. It came out nice so I went ahead and used it on the other dash. If or when the car get painted green again, i can always shoot the dash color matched green. The landau black looked so clean and uniform I did the same to the grade A dash.
Car looks totally different inside…Here are some pics of how it turned out. Got me a new camera so, I post a lot of photos
“Miniature Effect” on Camera
Here is the “rat chewed” dash cleaned up. I feel a bit bad for bitchin bout it (100 times better than my green one ) it came out fairly good, but the rippled top shows more even after paint.
Unrelated to Dash. Couple of artsy shots after we took her out for a spin over the weekend. The cloudly shots we’re ealrier in the week. Cold!
That does look good. WHen a poor looking part is right in front of you it can be a real downer.
