Give us your ideas! Here is mine… A series of several cartoon like depictions of 50mpg cars in a circular pastern around a 428 CJ engine drawing with a caption that reads, “Consider buying a clown car, we need your gas…” WCCC, Salem Oregon.
Andrew has his pencil ready, fire away with your ideas!
Well Don, I REALLY like the business card design. Put THAT on a black T-shirt. Heck… you could have slid one of THOSE in with my last order, instead of just a business card! I mean… who there thought I didnt know how to get a hold of you guys to place an order?
We had five 428CJs at I believe the 2007 or 2008 So Cal Nats show. There were many photo’s taken of the five cars together. I think it would make one hell of a shirt.
These are some that I fiddled with last year when someone on the other site mentioned being an “old cat driving an old cat”. We both thought it would make a cool t-shirt.
Alternatively, I would go with “Cool” instead of “Old”.
“Cool Cats Driving Cool Cats”
The cars are probably familiar to you guys. I would think you could make a custom t-shirt with anyone’s car using pics that they send in.
I’m thinking you should do Mitch’s '71 CJ. Only in a copper/brown metallic. With a “reverse landau” front-half vinyl top, also in brown. Oh, and a later-model XR-7 center grille; and xr7 quarter badges.
Not all the text and everything. Mainly just the vintage look of the pic. I’d buy it. But maybe some text would be cool… like motor trend car of the year on it or somthing. but thats for 67 of course. hmmm…
I don’t know if you already made a shirt out of this. But I’d buy it. I have a couple shirts like this with old gassers on them.
Liked it so much I saved the picture to my computer haha.
I’m just curious. I have two Cougar t shirts designs that were turned down by an online printing company because of copyright issues, a least that is what they said in a letter sent to me. My artwork, so I was a bit put off by the reason. It was . Another Cougar shirt I did made it through printing and I wear it with pride. Has anyone else had a problem like this?
Steven
There may be copyright issues if you used names, but if they were just images of the car I don’t see how that would be a problem. But then again, what do I know.
I must admit, I’m a fan of the “K.I.S.S.” principle.
I don’t really want a catchy slogan, a pun, or a fancy cartoon.
A simple picture of a car would be fine, something like what c7XR7 posted.
One for each year 67-71/2, and a 73 if there was a likely demand
Keep it b&w, sketch style, no colours, just a simple design with maybe a logo.
Not all of us have 428 cj’s, GTE’s or XR-7’s, and I’m not sure I personally would buy a shirt with someone else’s car on it.
Alternatively, I bought one at a Mini show with a design similar to the one below.
The front had the car front, and the back had the rear.
Perhaps we could do a Cougar one ? Maybe with a tasteful cougar script >
Again, with no colour, it looks more like “my car”
Same principle, one for each major classic year.
The front-and-back idea has been in my head too for a long time, which is why our last design turned out like this:
I also was thinking it would be cool to do every year (or at least the ones with distinguishable differences - [67/68], [69], [70], [71/72], [73]) and change the color of the car every time (or do B&W as you suggest). For 69 I was thinking of doing a convertible, since everybody loves a 69 vert whether they have one or not, for 70 maybe an Eliminator, because everyone thinks they’re cool, and the upper years would just be whatever, because nobody cares about 71-3’s. (Just kidding )
Al you might be on to something here. I did use the Cougar name on the shirts that got turned down. The one that made it through was a walking Cougar logo with 6.5 Litre. Maybe the Mercury and Cougar name brought up a red flag for copyright violation.
