WCCC Needs a list of commonly mispelled automotive terms

concourse= something a plane lands on
concours= a level of judging

I sometimes see Disc misspelled Disk.

LOL. And lets not forget Cougar=Charger.

Here are a few Australian - American ones (not all of which are relevant):

Bitumen — asphalt (blacktop, paved road etc)

Bonnet — hood (of a car)

Boot — trunk (of a car)

Caravan (caravan park) — trailer (trailer park)

Car park — parking lot

Freeway — expressway

Four wheel drive (4WD) — Sports utility vehicle (SUV)

Gauge — gage

Glovebox — glove compartment

Motorbike — motorcycle

Mud guard — fender

Parkbrake or handbrake — emergency brake

Petrol (& petrol station, petrol bowser) — gasoline (& gas or filling station, gas pump)

Roadhouse — diner

Underground railway (UK, also) — subway

Ute (utility vehicle) — pickup (pickup truck)

Wanker - anyone driving a Suzuki Mighty Boy. Or a Rolls Royce. More the Rolls, really.

Windscreen — windshield

Windscreen wipers — windshield wipers

backlite = rear window
