1964 Mercury Marauder - 427

Saw this on craigslist, nice car for the money. Not a factory R code but still nice for the price

It’s deleted. FWIW, posting a link to an ad on eBay or Craigslist is an iffy proposition as they pull them down so fast. Probably better to do some copy and paste then to just put the link in. I know its a hassle… I would have loved to see this car.

It was there earlier, nice looking car.

I tried to cut and paste but the pictures would not show. I perfer to do that just in case the ad gets deleted. I did that on the “other” forum you can see them there. The link still shows for me - must be my computer’s cache.

Got it! I up loaded the pictures to Photobucket so they won’t go away.

That is a very very nice car. Too bad that one got away.

That’s a nice looking car. Not knowing a lot about Marauders, was a 427 an R code back then? I know a 428 is an R code in a Cougar.
Steven

Yes R code was the 2x4 427 and Q the 1x4 427. Real nice car too!

Remember the “R” designation varied over the years. For 1968 to 1970 it did designate a 428, for 71-72 it was a 351 Boss or HO. If I remember correctly in 2003, it was brought back on the Mach 1 Mustang with the shaker.

Thanks for clearing the codes up for me.
Stevn

I bet that big girl can haul the mail. Very nice!

Ford also used the “R” engine code for the GT40-ized 351W in '93-'95 F150 Lightnings. (The standard 351 these years had an “H” VIN code, same as '69-'73 Cougars and Mustangs.)
