1966 Cyclone GT

This week I got a letter from a friend of mine from in my college days. I haven’t seen this guy in over 40 years. Along with a short note he includes a picture of my old Cyclone GT. I have never had a decent picture of that car until now. It made my day! This is the car I “traded in” when I purchased the Eliminator. Thought I would share.

Neat! I really, really, really like those. I owned a '66 “202” two-door post for a while, but sold it in a moment of weakness.
Still have a set of “chrome reverse” wheel covers and a few other Cyclone parts squirreled away, just in case one falls in my lap.

Very cool. I bet seeing the picture after all of these years brought back a ton of memories. I really like the Cyclones. What options did the car have?

390 with 4 barrel Holley, 4 speed transmission, power steering, black interior with bucket seats and console. Fun car but not real fast (mid 16’s in the 1/4 mile). The 396’s would blow me away in the top end. I had heard the car ended up as a stock car and was seen racing at the local dirt tracks in the late 70’s.

I’ve got the grandma version - a '66 Comet Caliente four-door. Yes, a four-door Caliente. Only about 1500 made. Of course it is ‘grandma frost green’ (ivy gold), Black interior, body-color painted wheels w/ poverty caps…289-2V automatic, only 34k original miles. Rare option - vacuum delay wipers!!

That sounds like a nice optioned car. 390 4 speed, very cool.

Don has one, and I think he’s trying to sell it… cool car!

That is a good looking car. Very sleek love the color and red lines.
