I think I got a pretty fair deal on it and was hoping for a ballpark value as to what it is worth as is,I am in the process of restoring another car and wont have the funds to restore this one for a while. Thanks
I think he means the gravel guard which is also called a splash shield. It’s the painted piece under the headlights that the bumper fits over. If that’s the piece, it’s the same for 67 & 68.
Did you send for a marti report, it will come in handy. don’t hesitate to post your questions and pics if you can many here can and will help. My car is very similar to yours except for the stick.
Looks like a crack free steering wheel. also what looks like a new factory type exhaust. Some things changed under the hood, does it have a holley carb, on the back of the choke horn is a engineering number and date code.
As far as value is concerned it’s what you feel right about insuring it for. I think from what I can see in the pictures it’s worth more than $7,000. The 4 speed console is worth at least $1,000 if not more. I’ll bet your Cougar is a GT because it appears to have a GT air cleaner. A reproduction GT air cleaner is in the $400 price range. A good 1967 crack free steering wheel at least $400. So parts can add up quickly. Having a big block 4 speed XR7 that can leave tire marks in front of your neighbors house… priceless.

Congrats! Looks like a really nice car. I’m part way through a (non-concourse) restoration on mine and can see you have WAY more dollars worth of parts than what you paid for it. An S code, 4 speed XR’7 is about as good as it gets!
Well said Bill. There can’t be many Cougars like this out there. I hope you or others didn’t misinterpret my previous post. I was trying to point towards the value of this Cougar. Running, driving, big block, 4speed XR7 is one heck of a combination.

Do you have anymore pictures of #1? Or maybe Jim can pipe in, I would like to know where the speed control servo controller is mounted on these early 67s. Is it right behind the air cleaner mounted on the firewall between the shock supports? Is it the early Curtiss-Wright model?
I’ve seen a very low number 67 Mustang and the above is what it has.
