Hi,I am a new member of this forum.I am curious as to a ballpark value.I have the opportunity to purchase a 67 Cougar S code 4 speed car.I dont have pics but have looked the car over.I am not sure if it is the original engine but the one in it has been rebuilt and retains the original S code air cleaner. The transmission shifts smooth and the clutch works good.It has disc brakes. The body is straight with no rust and is in primer. The undercarriage appears rust free and has a new exhaust with the transverse muffler. The tailights are not installed nor the front and rear bumpers as it was in the process of getting painted.I believe all the trim is with it.The VIN shows it to be an S code,4 speed and non posi rear axle car.The headlight doors open but dont close. The interior is in good condition.Any help determining value would be appreciated.I know pics would be better but I just dont have any. Thanks
Is the body rusty in any areas and do you know where to look for the common areas for rust ?
$22k
It is one of 905 XR7 S code 4 speeds. Consider that there were over 15 times as many '67 Mustangs built with the same drive train and the XR-7 Cougar is a cooler car.
What were the factory colors (outside and interior)?

GT or 6.5 ?
The factory exterior paint code is Z.The interior color is black.I did not see any rust, but I dont know much about Cougars and their particular rust areas. It has a black vinyl top that is new but the lines on it are a little crooked.I am hoping to pick it up this weekend. Thanks for the help.
It is not a GT after looking at the buck tag.
Think about getting a Marti report it will tell you exactly how the car came from the factory.
Are there any particular areas to look for rust on this model? Thanks
Your best bet is to post as many pics as you can.

I feel fortunate to have been able to pick this Cougar up today. It runs, drives and shifts nice. The 390 pulls strong and the clutch works good.My neighbor has some burnout marks on the road in front of his house👍There is only one tiny pinhole of rust in front of right rear wheel. There is no rust in trunklid, hood, bottom of doors are free from rust.I have not pulled carpet up as of yet but underneath of car looks rust free.Hopefully being an Eastern Washington car helped with not being rusty. The transverse muffler and rest of exhaust is new. There are a couple items of trim and such that need replacing. It came with two sets of wheels and tires, rechromed front and rear bumpers, new wheel lip moldings,4 tailight housings,2 Mercury radios ,a bunch of window trim, hood trim, trunk lid trim,2 grill center pieces and some other parts and pieces to sort out.The upholstery is in good shape. The car needs a little tlc and paint etc. Thanks to all here for the help with what to look for before purchase.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Nice car!
Nothing like an XR-7 with a 4 speed!
Just out of curiosity,by looking at these pics, would anyone have an idea on the value of this car?I am wanting to know what to insure it for. Thanks
If you are buying stated value collector car insurance, you can name the price to a large extent. If you are buying conventional insurance the value is exactly what you paid for it, or what it can be replaced with, typically which ever is lowest.
