Looking for a very specific door striker 5/16 x 18 screw for a 1967. Please see the attachment and notice it has a “star pattern” as well as the normal Phillips head. I really only need one screw, but you would have to sell them in a set of four, I would be open to that.
Norm, that “star pattern” + Phillips head you are referring to is called a Pozidriv screw.
It is actually different than a Phillips, in the angles of the cuts for the screwdriver / bit. The striker plate screw size is #4 Pozi, but depending on how rusty they are, you can make a #3 Pozi work (slightly easier to find ~ Harbor Freight has them in a few of their little bit kits).
Thanks for the info! Man, seems like you are the only guy on the planet that knew what type of screw that was. No one on the Concour Mustang Forums or any other Mustang forum.
Buy the way, I have a 67 Mustang not a Cougar so I am sure you would not want to see pics of it when I am done but I will post anyway. This forum is the best and I think the parts I have received so far from the cougarpartsman is top shelf.
Thank you all! Stay posted I will have more questions regarding tilt column…
As you found out these guys here are some smart dudes. I needed these same screws a for my build and I found the answer right here in these forums. I had no idea it was different from a normal Phillips until then.
