im hopeing that the cougar tilt is the same for 67 mustang. long story short, have an 67 vert mustang and the tilt didn’t work. spent three afternoons working on it. no vac hose to the switch that sends vac to the motor, hooked that up. courtesy light fuse out, replaced that. had power to door jam switch one day then I have nothing. seven amp fuse is good, but no voltage to it. what am I missing? ig key is off position, so where does the power come from when the door is opened? have a wire diagram, looks like from the ig switch? column relay have anything to do with this? did have power the day before and all electrical did work but vac was not hooked up yet. came back the next day and no voltage any where. did bypass all of that and ran vac to the motor and tilt works fine. so I don’t know what happened or im missing to get the voltage back. rich
Door jamb controlled courtesy lights come from BATT-fused (7.5 amps) green/yellow wire which connects to black/blue wires for courtesy lights when the door is opened. Bad door jamb switch (try the other side…), blown fuse (right-most vertical fuse), no ground for courtesy lights (yes, the brackets must be attached) or cut wires somewhere are the usual suspects.
courtesy lights do work, fuse is good. other fuse is good 71/2 fuse is good but no power to it on both sides. what about the ignition switch? does it not power all of this when the switch is off? a separate door jam switch controls the tiltaway right? do the courtesy lights have to be grounded to make this work? console lights work. lost power overnight somehow, gremlins, I don’t know. got drawings but they are not always complete. any ideas would help. thanks rich
Power to one side of the 7.5 amp fuse is via the battery, bypassing the ignition switch (although tied into it). Seems like you lost all power (battery).
Yes, a separate door jamb switch controls the tiltaway (you can’t start the car with the door open). Courtesy lights have nothing to do with tilt-away.
To see if you have battery power, use your cigarette lighter or e-flasher.
emergency flashers work. perhaps I should pull the ignition switch and see if there is power from the battery coming out. my understanding is that the key is turned off and removed from the switch, then you open the door and the wheel moves over. does thst mean that the door jam switch is always hot? and you are completing the circuit? but the key needs to be removed to get power or it doesn’t matter only that the key is in the off position. rich
