1967 Quarter Panel Replacement

So I am starting body work on my 67. The roof was in horrible shape due to the car sitting outside and neglecting the vinyl top. I got the roof skin cut off and ready for the new one which will be here in a couple days. The C Pillars and quarters both have some rust as well, so I figured I might as well address that while the roof is off. I ordered full quarters for both sides as that seemed to be more cost effective than ordering patch panels separately.

So my question is this, should I plan on replacing the full quarters or just cutting the patches I need from it and keeping as much of the original quarters as I can? I’ve never done any body work like this so not sure the best route to take. If I do end up doing the full quarters do I need to brace anything? Any tips or guidance is appreciated.

Hi!
I did all that without any welding experience .And with very good results.
But to be sure that everything stays in place I braced the complete car. I also replaced the frame rails, the floor, the roof, the front end and the rocker panels.Good luck !

Nice, hopefully I don’t have to go to that extent. My wheel wells and trunk are still pretty solid for the most part. Do you think leaving one quarter on would keep it rigid enough to not have to add additional bracing?

Hi!
The straight an answer is yes, but when I removed (cut) the first quarter panel, the panel pops (maybe due to previous repair or bender fender).
So I was happy that everything was braced .At the end it’s made my project easier, the time spend bracing paid off.
Here’s a picture taken last week. So 2 years after I start the project.
My advice to you is DON’T MAKE ANY ROUND CORNERS TAKE YOUR TIME !
Anything that you overlook or go to the Fastlane will haunt you at the end.
