Hey all, I am wondering if all 1967 cougars have the trunk light wire harness connection if I wanted to add a trunk light to my cougar. Getting tired of pulling the phone out to see inside the trunk at night!
The car did not come with the trunk light from the factory, but I am wondering if the connection is there if I wanted to add the light. If so, where in the trunk should I look for the connector?
For example, I did add the opera lights even though the car didn’t come with them from the factory, since the wire harness connection was available (on all 1967/68) but not used. That got me thinking if the trunk light wire connection is the same as well.

The connection on my 68 XR7 is into a single bullet connector in the harness running below the package shelf in the trunk.
Also true for 67 standard.
Thank you for the replies, so there should be a connector in the trunk under the shelf, even on a standard '67 cougar?
Would the harness/connector be on the Driver’s side or Passenger side?
Gonna get diggin’ in the trunk when I get back home, no pun intended ha
It’s more on the drivers side, but not all the way over. If you look at your trunk deck there will be a hole in the lower rail (hinge side) This is where the wire will pass though for the light. The female bullet connector should be in a harness under the package tray about in line with that hole. There is a protection grommet that goes inside that hole (hole is about 1-1’/4 or a little less around) There should also be a small hole next to this big hole for a retaining clip.
Found it!
It was right in front of me last few times a went looking for it and never noticed it… Thank you all for the help!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays all!
