I hope that someone can help me to identify these parts ( I also hope that they are indeed OEM Ford and not aftermarket ).
A good friend of mine found these. many years ago, on a 1968 Cougar, under the A.C condenser. They appeared to be locating pads / insulators for the condenser to front radiator support. They are hard plastic, not metal. They do like they are made of the same kind of plastic as the battery heat shields ( big block ) and the fender splash shields on the 1969 -70 Cougars ( a black ABS plastic ? )
If anyone can help me ID the parts ( are they even Ford ? ) and what might their part numbers be, I’d be very grateful.
Thanks !
The 67/68 A/C condenser does not use a locating bracket or an insulator.
Those go over the bottom supports of the AC condenser on a 1967 Cougar where it bolts to the front crossmember. I don’t know why but they were eliminated in 1968.
Thanks, Royce. I was certain that your vast trove of Cougar knowledge would be able to identify the parts.
Do you happen to know a part number for them - I couldn’t find them in the L-M MPC ?
It could be hard to find in the Master Parts Catalog if it is intended to shield the headlamp vacuum hoses from cuts, or perhaps to shield the wiring harness from cuts. Maybe they were never listed in the MPC if they were deemed unnecessary the following year. The MPC only lists what was available for the parts department to purchase - not necessarily every part that was used on the line.
Royce, from what I understand these parts posted were not used all of the time as my April 67 with air received a wider plastic shield ( 2 ) to protect the wire harness that crosses that part of the crossmember from chafing against the condensers sharp bends of its mounting brackets those parts also do not have a engineering number.
